Photowalk around St Augustine
Project Brief: Walk 4 miles with preferably one camera-one lens and make photographs.
St Augustine and its surroundings are immensely photogenic. It takes me, on average, 2-3 hours to complete a 4-mile walk due to the frequent stops on the way. For the most recent project, I made two changes: instead of one camera, I carried two – a Hasselblad CFV II 50C/907X with XCD 30/3.5 lens and a Leica Q2 Monochrom with a 28/1.7 Summilux lens; and I split 4 miles into three segments. It took me four hours, and I drove in between these segments. This way, I could walk on the historic St George Street in downtown St Augustine, the Vilano beach, and then finally over and under the Vilano Bridge.
Goals transform a random walk into a chase.

St George Street | St Augustine
This pedestrian-only street connects the old city gates with the Plaza de la Constitucion. I have walked here many times. During this walk, I looked for views I had not captured earlier.
Vilano Bridge
I then drove over the Vilano Bridge and parked to access the Vilano Beach Nature Boardwalk. I walked on the boardwalk, then retraced back to the bridge and walked across and back. Repeated pattern created by the streetlights makes for excellent images. Additionally, the views across and under the bridge provide ample photo opportunities and a unique elevated point of view.
Vilano Beach
Finally, I drove to the beach nearby and walked on the beach. Recent bad weather has caused considerable beach erosion, and even one of the walkways is closed.
