Walk in St. Augustine with a 28mm, and an 800 mm lens.
For this morning’s photo-walk was to make some closeups and wide angle shots. I used a Leica Monochrom with 28mm lens and took the photos of the Corazon Cinema that shut down due to COVID-19 earlier this year.
I have been working on a series of images in which I use super-telephoto lenses – 400mm, 2.8ii, 560mm, and 800mm – to take close ups of various towers and buildings around town. Additionally, I am using these focal lengths for high resolution panoramic images of St Augustine downtown, Lighthouse, and giant cross.
With 800 mm, the focal length often is too long. I have been instead making panoramas.
Contrasty light and hard edged shadows were a good fit for the monochrome.
